Popia Vietnam
Ingredients:
- Popiah skin
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 2 gloves garlic, crushed
- 1/4 cup diced shallots
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1/4 head of cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup shredded carrots
- 1/4 cup bean sprouts
- 1/4 cup shiitake mushroom, sliced thinly
- 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic, shallots, and onion. Saute until soft and fragrant.
- Add the ground pork in the skillet and brown it for about 10-12 minutes.
- Add the cabbage, carrots, and sliced shiitake mushrooms. Stir-fry until the vegetables are wilted.
- Season the filling mixture with oyster sauce, sugar, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
- Prep the popiah skin on a flat surface. Fill a bowl of warm water and dip the popiah skin in it for about 10-15 seconds until soft.
- Transfer the moistened popiah skin onto a plate or flat surface.
- Add 2 tablespoons of the filling mixture into the center of the popiah skin.
- Wrap tightly into a cigar shape, folding the sides into the center as you go.
- Serve and enjoy.
